Band/Strings – Band lessons for today are as follows:

Period 2 – Group E

Period 3 – Group F

Period 5 – Group G

Period 6 – Group H

Period 8 – Group J

 

*A reminder to make sure that your scheduled class teacher knows that you are going to band BEFORE attending your lesson.  If you do not yet have your instrument, please attend this week anyway.  

  

Choir – Students auditioning for Bergen County Choir will meet today during Period 4 in Room 15.

*Rehearsals for all choir members will begin the week of October 5. Choir schedules will be distributed in homerooms by the end of this week.

 

Soccer – The girls soccer team won 3 - 0 yesterday against Rivervale in their fisrt game of the season.  Scoring goals for VMS were Lailah Saadah and Anna Manzo with assists from Emma Perlaza, Danica O'Shaughnessy, Reagan Ciappi and Abby Soltys.  They girls team play away at Allendale today.

 

The Boys Challengers started off the season yesterday facing Rivervale away. In a close and competitive game, the boys battled with Rivervale before letting a close goal through on their fast turf field. The boys didn’t stop fighting, and learned that Colin Allen’s chaos can be unleashed at will as Colin moved up to striker in the second half and disrupted Rivervale’s squad scoring the Challengers’ first goal of the season. Unfortunately, it wouldn’t be quite enough to come back in the game as the Challengers would lose 3-1.

  

Cross Country – Cross Country will have practice today.  The next

meet is tomorrow in Upper Saddle River.  There will be no practice Friday.

  

VMS Cheerleading - Any 7th or 8th grader interested in cheering for the basketball teams at VMS during the winter season should e-mail Ms. Russo by Friday, October 2nd.

 

Student Council - Anyone who missed yesterday's Student Council interest meeting and would like to run for the executive board should contact Mrs. Festa or Mr. Gursaly immediately. Petitions for all candidates are due Tuesday, October 6th in order to be included on the election ballot. 

 

VMS Clubs – VMS Clubs will be starting soon!  A club interest form has been posted on your guidance counselor’s google classroom.  Students should check off any clubs they may be interested in joining this year.  This form must be submitted by Friday, October 2^nd. 

 

Cupcake Club - The Cupcake Club will have its first meeting on Wednesday, October 7th from 2:35-4:15pm. Permission slips are on the club bulletin board.  Please return your permission slip along with $6 cash by Friday, October 2nd. Please see Ms. Paradiso or Mrs. Doyle with any questions! 

 

Attention 6^th Graders – Growth & Development forms were due on Friday.  If you have your signed form, please bring it to the office.

 

Attention Grade 8 Students – Diploma forms were due on Friday.  If you have your form please bring it to the office at this time.

 

Also a reminder for 8^th graders that Ramapo High School’s Open House will be on Thursday, October 8^th at 7:00 PM and the Indian Hills Open House will be on Thursday, October 15^th @ 7:00pm. 

  

PTO – Come out to the PTO Block Party on October 2^nd from 5:00-6:15 in the cafeteria parking lot.  The cost is $20 and students must sign up by 9/30.  See the PTO web site for more information.

 

PARENT REMINDERS

 

Water Bottles – Students should remember to bring a refillable water bottle to school every day. 

 

Soccer – Boys HOME, Girls AWAY vs. Allendale

 

Cross Country –  Practice today.  Meet at USR, Thursday 10/1

                              NO practice Friday
